You simply haven’t lived until you’ve gotten up at the crack of dawn, a cold morning in December, and hauled yourself off to a local church to celebrate Las Mañaguadalupe-daynitas de Maria de Guadalupe.  The high point is one of the kids running up the center aisle dressed as Juan Diego, the indigena man who discovered the image in the aftermath of the destruction of the Nehua by the Spanish in the early 16th century.  It’s all an affirmation of hope, community, and our firm belief that Jesus is not only with us, Jesus is us.
